Martin Phillips was born in London. He joined the Anna Scher Theatre in 1972 where he studied drama, making his professional debut at the age of 12 in The Lost Voice and Hurt Hawks both for the BBC.
Film and TV. Credits include Scum (BBC), Eastenders (BBC), The Bill (ITV), Thou Shalt Not Kill (RTE), Fair City (RTE), Jake’s Progress (Diplomat Films), The Governor (ITV), The Tudors (HBO), Lords of Discipline (Paramount) and Michael Collins (Warner Bros.).
Theatre credits include Flashpoint (Young Vic.), I’m Getting My Act Together... (Apollo Theatre), Same Time Next Year (Eye Theatre), the Rocky Horror Show (Tivoli). He played the King in Sleeping Beauty (Point Theatre) and Paris in Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida (Samuel Beckett Theatre).
For radio he played Scott Buglas in Emerald Germs (RTE), the Narrator in Dangerous Holiday (BBC) and Robert in Miss Anderson and Captain Oats (BBC).
Martin moved to Dublin in 1994 with his wife and two children. He spent some time as a ringmaster for the American 3 ring Circus and did some voice work for Marks & Spencer. He also teaches drama to children at the Dublin Dyslexic Society. He wrote, directed and performed Sounds a Bit Irish at The Shelter Vicar Street and directed Private Lives (Civic Theatre).
